Design Principles

Squiz, like most product design teams, have a set of design principles that serve as a sort of north star, outlining the key objectives that drive the team toward the excellence we strive for in every project. They not only shape our approach to work but also fuel constructive critique, pushing us to constantly evolve and improve.

Being a distributed team scattered across four different cities and two countries, opportunities for traditional team building are rare for us. Collaboration on the same project is even rarer. However, this year, we decided to break the mold for our end-of-year team activity. The mission? To bring our design principles to life in a visual way.

Each team member took on the challenge of designing a postcard, with each card featuring one of our design principles. The result? A kaleidoscope of bright and engaging artworks that now adorn our office desks and home workspaces.

These postcards are more than just decorative pieces; they serve as daily reminders of our shared commitment to excellence. Each principle is a nugget of wisdom that fuels our creativity and propels us toward our goals.

Having these visual representations above our desks (either in the office or at home) serves as a source of inspiration and reinforcement of our design philosophy. It's a testament to our collective creativity, even in the face of physical separation. Now, not only do we have these visual reminders for ourselves, but we've proudly put them on display for the entire company to see.

Our design principles are no longer confined to confluence pages; they are alive in our creative spaces, sparking conversations and driving innovation.

The Squiz product design principles are: Collaborative, Consistent, Inclusive, Proven, Quality, Simple.
